Today is...

just another square on the calendar

to everyone else

but not to me

because today

the world got you in it

and I have never stopped being grateful for that

I wanted to be there this morning

to watch you open your eyes

to make you the coffee you would complain about

to be the first voice you heard

but the distance had other plans

so I built you this instead

a small world

made of pixels and stubbornness

because if I cannot hold your hand today

I can at least fill your screen

with everything I would have said out loud

you are the calmest part of my life

and somehow also the most exciting

you make ordinary days feel like plans

and hard days feel survivable

I love that you send me things at 2am

I love that you call me out

and then make me tea anyway

I love that you are already my family

soon

there will be no screens

no goodnight that means goodbye for many hours

just a door

and you on the other side of it

and I will never take that for granted

until then

know this

every mile between us
